Tiny Church (also known as San Pablo Community Church) is a group of neighbors that organizes life around loving God and the people on our block. We have been on the receiving end of God's great love and want to enjoy and share that love with the San Pablo Park community.
Wildly high property values and cost of living make "doing church" in traditional ways very difficult in the Bay Area. Churches that do manage to thrive often draw from a huge radius; their love reaches far but can lack focus in any one place.
Tiny Church is an experiment in doing church with historical (say, first century) simplicity. We meet in homes, and our seminary-trained leaders also work outside the church to support their families. Because our operations are basic are our reach is "tiny," we generally have an abundance of time and resource to share. Our hope is that when we share this abundance of love with our neighbors it feels something like an encounter with Jesus, who always seemed to have plenty for all and brought healing wherever he went. We don't focus on doctrinal distinctions but rather seek to bring people together to marvel at God and the complex picture Jesus gives us of him.
